Large Protest in Southern Serbia
A huge crowd of people took part in a protest in the city of Nis, southern Serbia, on Friday. The protesters were students, teachers, and their supporters.
The crowd marched through the streets with thousands of people taking part. They gathered in front of the Basic Court building and ended at the schools administration building. Many in the crowd blew whistles, carried banners, and chanted slogans. One common chant was “Pump, Pump”.
The protest was called by university students to show support for teachers who have not been paid their February salaries. The teachers went on strike to support the students.
During the protest, a moment of silence was observed in memory of the victims of the Novi Sad Railway Station tragedy.
