**Parents of Autistic Children Protest in Serbia**
Yesterday, parents of autistic children gathered in several Serbian cities to protest on World Autism Awareness Day. The protests were held in Belgrade, Niš, Kragujevac, and Novi Sad.
Dozens of parents gathered in front of the Serbian government headquarters in Belgrade. They read out their demands for better support for both themselves and their autistic children. After that, they marched to the central Republic Square.
The main reason for these protests is a lack of systemic support for people with autism in Serbia. There is no national registry of people with autism, which makes it hard to develop strategies to solve problems related to autism. The parents want the government to pass a law that would provide caregiver parents and personal companions for children with autism.
