Protests Continue on Rustaveli Avenue.
Every day for over a month, protesters have been gathering on Rustaveli Avenue. This has caused traffic restrictions in the area.
Today, students and staff from BTU (Business and Technology University) joined the protests. They marched to Rustaveli Avenue from Vake Park.
Earlier, people had gathered near the Orbeliani Palace to hear a speech by Salome Zurabishvili, Georgia‘s former president.
After Zurabishvili left the palace, the protesters moved to Rustaveli Avenue. They were opposing the new President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili. He was declared president by the Electoral College.
The police had left the area on April 9th and nearby streets. But some protesters got detained near Qashveti Church. The Ministry of Internal Affairs said six people were held. They were later released after signing agreements.
