Russian media reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin had signed a decree simplifying entry and exit procedures for Georgian citizens.
The decree signed on October 10 allows Georgian citizens to stay in Russia longer than 90 days, including students, workers and those arriving as visitors.
Previously, only certain categories Georgian citizens were allowed to stay in Russia for an extended period of time. Workers and students were also restricted. The extension is effective immediately from the date of signature.
This follows the Russian government’s decision to lift visa requirements in the spring 2023 for Georgian citizens. This will facilitate entry for all Georgians, but excludes workers and students until now from the longer stay permitted by this new order.
