The Movement for Georgia organized the “Come Out for Dignity”, rally today. Activists gathered outside the government administration in protest of the contents of the secret audio recording that was leaked. They demanded that those who appeared in the recording be punished and the authenticity of records be established. Protesters also demand the resignation of Georgia’s Prime Minister, Irakli Gribashvili.
The statement made today by the Prosecutor‘s Office caused the dissatisfaction among those gathered against the administration. According to the statement, the investigation was only launched on the basis of obtaining and disclosing secret records.
The case involves a secret phone recording that was aired by TV Pirveli. In it, Bera Ivanishvili – the son of former Georgian Dream chairman Bidzina Ivanishvili – and Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili discuss a violent act against a student due to a comment made on social media.
