EU Imposes Sanctions on Georgia’s Government Officials
The European Union has imposed new sanctions on Georgian officials. Germany, a EU country, was the first to impose personal sanctions on people responsible for cracking down on democracy in Georgia.
A Member of the European Parliament (MEP) named Rasa Jukneviciene welcomes this decision by Germany. She says that since Hungary‘s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is blocking these sanctions at the EU level, other EU countries should take action individually to impose these sanctions.
The MEP also comments on a visit made by Georgia’s President Salome Zurabishvili to Lithuania. Jukneviciene says: “Welcome to Lithuania, President Zourabichvili! We will always stand with our friends in Georgia”.
