**Lithuanian MEP Warns of Creeping Dictatorship in Georgia**
Rasa Juknevičienė, a Member of the European Parliament from Lithuania, has spoken out about the situation in Georgia. She says that President Salome Zurabishvili is the only truly elected leader of the country.
Juknevičienė believes that if the president is controlled by oligarchs, they could impose martial law and suppress people’s rights. She thinks international action is needed before December 29 to help Georgians.
**EU Should Take Action**
According to Juknevičienė, the European Union should:
* Reject the results of the October parliamentary elections
* Declare the current parliament illegitimate
* Recognize President Zurabishvili’s legitimacy until new elections are held
She also wants the EU to push for free and fair elections, and to sanction those who are destroying democracy in Georgia. Juknevičienė thinks that state leaders should visit Georgia to encourage new elections.
