Lithuanian Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Rasa Juknevičienė believes that only new and transparent elections can help Georgia get out of its current crisis.
According to her, any future elections should be decided by the Georgian society itself with support from the European Union. She thinks EU institutions should act as mediators in this process.
Juknevičienė also criticized the recent inauguration of a new president, saying it was just a show and not a legitimate event. She stated that Salome Zourabichvili remains the only rightful leader of Georgia.

Juknevičienė sees Georgia as an important part of the broader conflict between Russia and Europe. She stressed that Ukraine is currently facing a significant battle against Russia, and Europeans must decide how to proceed. They have two options: either win the war or accept Russia’s aggressive behavior.
US Actions on Georgia’s Crisis
The Lithuanian MEP welcomed recent actions by the United States in imposing sanctions on Ivanishvili and recognizing him as an instrument of Russian policy in Georgia. She now believes it’s time for the European Union to take similar steps.
