**EU Leaders Urged to Not Legitimize Georgian Government**
A member of the European Parliament, Rasa Juknevičienė, has called on EU leaders and other international organizations to not recognize the Georgian Dream government as legitimate.
The Georgian Dream government is facing protests from its people. For over 50 days, Georgians have been demonstrating against their government’s actions. The protesters are calling the Georgian Dream government “Kremlin Dream” or “Russian Dream party”. This suggests that they believe the government is working in favor of Russia rather than Georgia.
Juknevičienė believes that the only true and legitimate representative of the Georgian people is President Salome Zurabishvili. She also thinks that the self-proclaimed one-party parliament, led by the Georgian Dream party, is not a legitimate authority.
**Violence Against Opposition and Journalists Increasing**
According to Juknevičienė, there has been an increase in violence against opposition leaders and journalists in Georgia. One opposition leader, Giorgi Gakharia, was severely beaten. A journalist, Mzia Amaglobeli, was sentenced to two months in prison.
Juknevičienė is calling on Europe to impose personal sanctions on those responsible for the violence. She believes that new, independent, and fair elections are the only way out of the crisis in Georgia.
