**Eight Doctors Killed in Gaza**
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies is outraged over the deaths of eight medical personnel who were killed while on duty in Rafah, southern Gaza. The ambulance squad came under heavy fire at al-Hashashin in March.
Their bodies were recovered last Sunday after a week without access to the area. In a statement, the IFRC said that the medics wore emblems that should have protected them and their ambulances were clearly marked.
**Killed While Helping Others**
The IFRC secretary general, Jagan Chapagain, said: “I am heartbroken. These dedicated ambulance workers were responding to wounded people. They were humanitarians.”
The Israeli military admitted to firing on ambulances last Sunday in southern Gaza after identifying them as suspicious cars. The military claimed that they had fired at Hamas vehicles and killed several terrorists.
**Denouncing the Attack**
A senior Hamas official, Basem Naim, denounced the attack. A US surgeon who worked in Gaza also expressed concern over the lack of medical supplies, saying that wounded Palestinians were dying due to shortages.
