Referendum results: 50.24% support EU integration

After the counting of 98.74% votes in the held by Moldova, 50.24% voted for the amendment of its constitution to facilitate the country’s integration with the Union. Meanwhile, 49.76% voted no.

Maia Sandu’s response to the results was that freedom and in Moldova had been attacked in a way never seen before, both the day of the election and over the past few months.
“Criminal groups, working with foreign forces hostile towards our national interests, have attacked the country with tens and tens millions of euros in lies and propaganda. They used the most shameful means to keep both our citizens and nation in uncertainty and instability,” stated President Maia Sandu.
“We have evidence that these criminals groups wanted to buy 300,000. This is a fraud on an unprecedented scale.
“Their goal was to undermine a democracy process,” she said.
