**US Asks European Countries for Security Plans**
The United States has asked European countries to come up with plans for security and peacekeeping contributions in Ukraine, as part of any future peace negotiations with Russia.
According to a report by the Financial Times, US officials have sent a formal request to European governments asking them to outline proposed military aid, peacekeeping forces, and other defense measures. This includes specific details on types of military equipment and troop commitments.
This move comes ahead of a visit by US envoy Keith Kellogg to Brussels next week. Kellogg has said that Europe will not be directly involved in negotiations to end Russia’s war in Ukraine, but its interests will be considered.
**Talks with Russia**
US President Donald Trump’s phone call to Russian President Vladimir Putin was seen as a mistake by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that success already feels possible as his administration begins working on negotiations with the US team to end the war. Zelensky also denied reports that Ukraine would participate in an upcoming meeting between Russia and the United States in Saudi Arabia.
**G7 Meeting**
The Group of Seven (G7) countries agreed to link any future tightening of sanctions against Russia to the progress of upcoming peace negotiations, after a meeting on February 15. The G7 is a group of seven developed economies that includes Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK, and the US.
**Saudi Arabia Meeting**
US officials are set to meet with Russian and Ukrainian representatives in Saudi Arabia for peace talks, according to Politico. This move has been met with skepticism by some European leaders, who feel left out of the negotiations.
