Ukraine is not allowed use Western-supplied rockets in Russia.
Reuters reports that Russia’s president Vladimir Putin has warned about possible responses to Western long range weapons in Ukraine. According to remarks posted on Pavel Zarubin’s Telegram account on 27 October, Putin said that Moscow would implement “a range of reactions” if the United States or NATO allies allowed Ukraine to use Western-style long-range weapons to strike within Russia.
In President Zelenskyy’s “victory strategy,” lifting restrictions on Western weapons used to strike inside Russia is a major point. Despite Ukraine’s pleas in the face of escalating Russian attacks, the US and UK continue to limit their use of long-range weapons like ATACMS or Storm Shadow. This is to prevent further escalation. Berlin has been withholding Taurus missiles since months, citing concerns that the war could escalate into a larger conflict.
