**Trump Wants to Meet Putin to End Ukraine War**
US President Donald Trump wants to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin as soon as possible to stop the war in Ukraine. He made this announcement at the World Economic Forum in Davos on January 23.
“We really have to stop that war,” Trump said via video link. “It’s a carnage.” He added that every day without a meeting, soldiers are being killed on the battlefield.
Trump also mentioned that he wants to reduce nuclear arms and explore possibilities for peace in Ukraine. He claimed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was open to considering a deal to end the war.
**Zelensky’s Response**
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed on January 21 at the World Economic Forum that discussions were underway to organize a meeting with Trump. He said, “We are your partner. We know all the sore spots; we have lost our people.” Zelensky wants to end the war this year but added that it should be done fairly and reliably.
**NATO’s Response**
NATO Chief Mark Rutte stated on January 23 that Russian President Vladimir Putin has no authority to influence NATO’s future membership decisions. Rutte also said that Ukraine was ready for a deal, but added “you’ll have to ask Russia” about a peace agreement within a year.
