European Parliament President Promises Support to Georgian People
The European Parliament’s leader, Roberta Metsola, met with journalists in Brussels. She was about to attend a meeting of the European Council.
Metsola spoke about Georgia and its people. A journalist from Georgia asked her if the European Council would make strong statements about the country’s situation. Metsola said that the European Parliament always speaks strongly when it has concerns.
She told the journalist: “We want Georgia to stay on the path towards Europe. We promised the Georgian people, who are showing their support for the EU with flags and protests, that we wouldn’t abandon them.”
Metsola repeated her message several times, emphasizing that the European Parliament will not leave Georgia behind. She said this was the same promise made to people all over Europe, including those in Georgia.
