**US Secretary of State Marco Rubio Arrives in Turkey Ahead of Ukraine-Russia Peace Talks**
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has arrived in Turkey on May 14, just days before the planned peace talks between Ukraine and Russia. The talks are set to begin on May 15, with US President Donald Trump’s envoys, Steve Witkoff and Keith Kellogg, also attending.
However, it seems that Trump himself will not be participating in the negotiations. A US official confirmed this, citing Putin’s reluctance to engage in talks. Rubio will be accompanied by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham during his meetings with Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha in the port city of Antalya.
**Ukraine Reiterates Commitment to Peace Talks**
In a statement, Sybiha emphasized Ukraine’s commitment to peace talks and its expectation that Russia will reciprocate. He expressed disappointment that Moscow has not yet taken steps towards peace, warning that rejecting it would come at a cost. Sybiha also reaffirmed Ukraine’s strong commitment to President Trump’s peace efforts.
**US Involvement in Peace Talks**
The United States is set to play a key role in the peace talks, with Rubio and Graham meeting with Russian officials. The US has been involved in efforts to broker a deal between Ukraine and Russia, with President Zelensky inviting Putin to meet him during the negotiations.
However, the Kremlin has refused this invitation, instead announcing that their delegation will be headed by presidential advisor Vladimir Medinsky. The Russian delegation will also consist of Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin, Director of Russian Military Intelligence Igor Kostyukov, and Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin.
