**Russia Launches Overnight Drone Attack on Kyiv**
On the night of March 23, Russia launched a drone attack against the city of Kyiv. The attack targeted multiple residential buildings, causing fires throughout the city.
According to local authorities, two residential buildings in the Dniprovskyi district were hit. A fire broke out on the upper floors of one building after drone debris struck it. Another building’s 20th floor was damaged by a drone fragment.
Drone wreckage also caused fires at high-rise apartments in the Podilskyi district. Emergency services have been dispatched to the affected areas, but there is currently no information about casualties.
**Multiple Districts Hit**
The attack wasn’t limited to just one area of the city. Drone fragments caused fires and property damage in other districts, including the Desnianskyi, Shevchenkivsky, and Holosiivskyi districts.
A series of explosions were heard throughout the night as air defense units remained active in the city. The attack comes less than a week into Russia’s partial 30-day ceasefire on attacks against energy infrastructure in Ukraine.
**Ceasefire Not Intended to Stop Aerial Attacks**
The Kremlin announced the ceasefire on March 18, but it seems that Moscow is still continuing its aerial attacks on Ukrainian cities. “Today, the Russians are once again demonstrating their ‘desire for peace,'” said Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration.
In reality, the situation is much more complex. The attack highlights the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, with no clear end in sight.
**International Reaction**
The international community has been quick to condemn the attack. Czech President Petr Pavel called for stronger security guarantees to be provided to Ukraine. “If there is a strong group of European nations willing to provide security guarantees to Ukraine, my strong conviction is that (the) Czech Republic should be among them,” he said.
The situation on the ground in Ukraine remains dire. The conflict has resulted in thousands of casualties and widespread destruction. The international community must come together to find a peaceful solution to this ongoing crisis.
