The Air Force reported targets at high speed, including a Kinzhal rocket, heading towards Kyiv or the Khmelnytskyi oblast.
the morning of October 7, Russian forces launched a missile strike on Ukraine, aiming at Kyiv and Khmelnytskyi oblast.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that it detected high-speed targets including a Kinzhal rocket heading towards Starokostiantyniv, in the Khmelnytskyi Oblast.
According to Khmelnytskyi oblast Governor Turin, no civilians or critical infrastructure were hit.
This is not the first time that the Russian military has used the Kinzhal missiles to these targets. On 27 September, Russia launched Kinzhal missiles against Starokostiantyniv in Khmelnytskyi Oblast. The missiles were aimed at an airfield that had concrete shelters which are valuable, even when they’re empty.
Yan Matveev, a military analyst, explained that “Starokostiantyniv was an airfield with concrete shields. They are probably aiming to hit them. These shelters are valuable even when they are empty. If they are destroyed, it is impossible to put an aircraft there. You can either destroy the plane, or at least the shelter.
Matveev said earlier that the Kinzhal missiles are used only in exceptional circumstances due to their high costs, primarily to detect F- fighters. Patriot air defense , however, can shoot these missiles down.
Klitschko said that falling missile debris was responsible for the fire in Solomyanskyi. No injuries were reported. Missile fragments have also been found near an apartment building’s entrance, in a yard of a private home, and near a grocery store in the Solomyanskyi District.
Serhiy Pokko, the head of the KCMA, said that debris damaged a roof on a multi-story building in the Solomyanskyi District and a piece fell onto school grounds.
The Russian troops launched an attack using Kh47M2 Kinzhal rockets from MiG31K carriers. Popko stated that all aerial targets had been successfully destroyed.
Ukrainian Air Defense reported that it shot down 32 drones as well as 2 Kinzhal Missiles over night on 7 October.
The Russians used an M as well as a Kh 59 guided air-to surface missile and an unidentified missile launched from the oblasts of and Kursk. They also used strike UAVs that were launched from different locations in Russia including Primorsko-Akhtarsk Kursk and Yeysk.
The Air Force confirmed that “two Kh-47M2 Kinzhal Aeroballistic Missiles were downed in the Kyiv Oblast, and 32 Russian strike drones were downed in Mykolaiv and Kyiv oblasts, as well as in Dnipropetrovsk oblast, Sumy oblast, Chernihiv poltava and Kharkiv politava oblasts.”
According to Oleksiy Drozdenko, the head of the Sumy Military Administration, there were explosions heard in Sumy, Konotop and Konotop.
According to Artem Semenikhin, the mayor of Konotop, an explosion was reported at around 10 pm.
Air raid alerts are active in Sumy (excluding the city), Chernihiv (excluding Kyiv), Cherkasy (excluding Kharkiv), Poltava and Donetsk oblasts.
According to Governor Serhii Lisak, a nighttime rocket attack in Pavlohrad Dnipropetrovsk Oblast caused damage to an enterprise. Ukraine’s Defense Forces shot down four drones in the oblast.
Around 37 Russian drones have been lost in different oblasts in Ukraine, likely as a result active countermeasures to electronic warfare.
