Russian bomb injures 8 in Kharkiv apartment building strike

On the night of October 2, Russia launched a KAB guided bomb on Kharkiv, hitting a residential building and injuring at least 10 people, including a child, according to authorities. The bomb struck a five-story apartment building, causing injuries to 10 people, including a -year-old girl, and a fire that spread to nearby vehicles. Emergency workers are currently at the scene and all of the building have been evacuated. There may be people trapped under the rubble, as reported by Kharkiv Oblast Governor .

The attack also caused power outages in nearby buildings and hundreds of windows were shattered. The full extent of the damage is still being investigated. According to the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s , Russia launched five guided aerial bombs at Kharkiv and its suburbs at around 11 p.. on October 2. Two landed in a suburban community while the other three hit Kharkiv. One of the bombs hit the apartment building in the Saltivka district, while the other two fell in an open area in the Shevchenkivskyi district.

President addressed the bombing on his official channel, sharing a video of the damaged building and calling on world leaders to help Ukraine prevent such attacks. He emphasized the need Ukraine to receive sufficient assistance from the international community to put an end to these Russian strikes.

Kharkiv has been under constant attack from Russia for over two years since the country’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. In recent months, there has been an increase in strikes on densely-populated areas of the city.
