**Russia Admits Ukraine Attacked Air Defense Systems**
On November 26, Russia’s Defense Ministry said that Ukraine had attacked their air defense systems and an airfield in the Kursk Oblast region.
This is the first time Russia has confirmed these attacks. Ukraine had previously reported hitting a Russian S-400 radar with U.S.-made ATACMS missiles on November 23.
The Russian ministry said that five ATACMS missiles were fired at the village of Lotarevka, 37 km northwest of Kursk. Three of the missiles were shot down, while two hit the positions of an S-400 surface-to-air missile division. The strike damaged a radar and caused casualties among personnel.
Ukraine also attacked the Kursk Vostochny airbase on November 25 with eight ATACMS missiles. Seven of these missiles were allegedly shot down by Russian air defenses, but one hit its target, injuring two soldiers and damaging infrastructure.
The claims made by Russia have not been verified.
