**Russia Trained 300,000 Reserve Soldiers for War in Ukraine**
Russia has trained over 300,000 contract soldiers as reserves to support its fighting regiments in Ukraine. This is according to Ivan Buvaltsev, the head of the training department at Russia’s Armed Forces.
In an article published on December 2, Buvaltsev said that seven companies of instructors and eight training companies for specialists had trained the reservists. The exact date of the training was not specified, but it is believed to have taken place in 2024.
Russia has been suffering record losses in its war against Ukraine, with Moscow reporting significant casualties in military equipment and personnel in November. According to Ukraine’s military, 45,720 Russian soldiers were wounded, killed, or captured in November alone.
**Russian Forces Suffer Heavy Losses**
In November, Russia lost a record number of soldiers in one day – 2,030. This is the highest rate of Russian losses in a day since February 24, 2022. Ukraine’s military also reported that Russia had lost over 743,920 troops, 9,478 tanks, and 19,397 armored fighting vehicles as of December 2.

**Ukraine Receives Support from European Union**
Despite the heavy losses, Ukraine has received significant support from the European Union. On December 2, EU top diplomat Kaja Kallas arrived in Kyiv with a surprise visit to reaffirm her country’s support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression.
The EU has also delivered 1 million artillery shells to Ukraine, fulfilling its pledge to deliver them by spring 2024.
**German Chancellor Visits Ukraine**
On December 2, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, and promised to announce the delivery of €650 million worth of arms to be supplied this December.
The visit came as Romania’s ruling Social Democratic Party (PSD) received 22.5% of the votes during parliamentary elections on December 2.
**Russian Forces Launch Drone Attack**
A Russian drone attack on Ternopil on December 2 caused a fire in a residential building and resulted in casualties, local officials reported. This number includes 1,790 casualties Russian forces suffered just over the past day.
