A Russian drone was spotted flying over the Mariinsky Palace in Kyiv, Ukraine‘s capital city. The incident occurred on January 16th while President Volodymyr Zelensky was meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
**Drone Sighting and Explosions**
The drone was seen buzzing above the presidential residence, which is located near the Presidential Office. At around 12:20 p.m., explosions were heard in downtown Kyiv. Air defense systems tried to shoot down the drone while Zelensky and Starmer held talks.

Despite the drone sighting, Kyiv and London signed a wide-ranging “100 Year Partnership” treaty covering areas such as defense, energy, trade, culture, and more.

When asked about the recent Russian drone attack at a press conference, Zelensky responded by saying that Ukraine would also send greetings to Russia. The incident occurred just days after another Russian drone attack on January 1st, which killed two people and injured six others in the Pecherskyi district.
