Russian Drone Attack Hits Evacuation Vehicle in Ukraine
A Russian drone attack on Jan. 30 hit an evacuation vehicle in the city of Pokrovsk, injuring its driver and two passengers.
The victims were taken to a hospital with mine-blast trauma and shrapnel wounds. The driver of the vehicle was identified as a British volunteer working in Ukraine. Two other people, a 42-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man, were also on board when they were injured.
Evacuating civilians from front-line towns is getting more difficult as Russian forces continue to advance in eastern Ukraine. The city of Pokrovsk was ordered to be evacuated in the summer. Many attempts to leave are high-risk due to shelling and Russian troops nearby.
Russian attacks have been concentrated near Pokrovsk, with 44% of all attacks happening there. This makes it a critical place for Ukrainian forces who need supplies and support in the area.
