Russian drone wreckage discovered in Romanian border town, Defense Ministry confirms.

The ministry also stated that they were investigating another possible impact site near the village of Caraorman, about 38 km south of the first site. The Defense Ministry strongly condemned these attacks by the Russian Federation, stating that they were unjustified and a serious violation of international law. Residents in the Romanian counties of Tulcea and Constanta were alerted around 2:30 a.m. local time and advised to take shelter due to the possibility of falling objects. In response, two F-16 fighter jets were dispatched from Romania’s 86th Borca Air Base to monitor the airspace. The had entered Romanian airspace but later left, heading back towards Ukraine.

This is not the first time that wreckage of has been found on Romanian territory, as Romania is a member of NATO. has previously targeted Ukrainian port infrastructure on the Danube River, which separates Ukraine and Romania. On August 21, drone fragments were discovered in the village of Periprava near the Romania-Ukraine border. This comes after Latvia’s Defense Ministry confirmed that a Russian Shahed-type drone equipped with explosives had crashed in Latvia on September 7. This marks the first case of a Russian drone crashing on Latvian soil.

In response to this incident, Latvia summoned the ‘s charge d’affaires to express their protest at the violation of their airspace.
