**Russia‘s Aerial Attack on Ukraine Spills Over into Moldova**
Russia’s large-scale missile and drone attack on Ukraine overnight on November 17 also entered Moldovan airspace, according to the country‘s foreign minister. Mihai Popsoi condemned Russia’s actions on social media platform X.
At least seven civilians were killed and around 20 injured in the attack, which targeted power generation and transmission facilities across multiple regions of Ukraine. The authorities described it as a “large-scale aerial attack”.
Popsoi said: “We strongly condemn the violation of Moldova’s airspace by Russia’s missiles and drones targeting Ukraine’s critical infrastructure today.” He also shared reports of Russian drones flying low over Moldovan villages.
**Video Shows Russian Projectile Over Village**
A video posted by Popsoi showed a house in a Moldovan village with an increasingly loud sound of a jet engine, claimed to be a Russian projectile. However, the Kyiv Independent could not independently verify this claim.
Moldova and Russia have been at odds for some time, with tensions escalating after Russia’s interference in Moldova’s recent presidential election. Earlier, two Russian drones crashed on Moldovan territory, leading to another diplomatic spat between the two countries.
**Not Alone**
Similar incidents of Russian drones or missiles entering a third country’s airspace during attacks on Ukraine have been reported by Romania, Poland, and Latvia.
