Russian military targets Chasiv Yar in Donetsk Oblast, a key Ukrainian stronghold

, spokesperson for the Joint Forces Operation, reported that Russian forces have intensified their assaults against Chasiv Yar in order to penetrate the Ukrainian ‘ defenses, who are preparing themselves for the ongoing combat in the area.
Anastasia Bobovnikova is the spokesperson of the “” and she told that Russian invaders were trying to break through the defenses of Ukrainian troops near Bakhmut District, in Donetsk Oblast.
The capture of Chasiv Yar would allow the Russian military to launch an offensive against other cities in the region–Kostiantynivka, Druzhkivka, Kramatorsk, and Sloviansk.
In April the Ukrainian Spokesperson Lieutenant Col. Nazar Voloshyn stated that losing the city would severely complicate the situation for Ukrainian Forces, as all logistic routes in the region would be in enemy hands.

The Ukrainian spokesperson stated that the tactic is to cut-off Russian logistics routes, leaving the occupiers with no reinforcements.

Ukrainian authorities had previously arrested a 22 year old soldier on suspicion of treason against the state for allegedly aiding Russian troops during the battle for Chasiv Yar, in Donetsk oblast.
Investigators claim that the suspect, who was a drone operator for a combat brigade of Ukraine’s Armed Forces defending the Kramatorsk Direction, was recruited remotely by an officer of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSS) in 2023. The SBU claims the soldier leaked positions of his UAV, which was responsible to coordinate fire against Russian forces attacking Chasiv Yar.
