**Russian Officer Charged Over Helicopter Downing**
A Russian officer was charged with breaking military rules after a helicopter crashed into the Black Sea.
The incident happened in December 2023 on occupied Crimea. The officer, Pashkov, was on duty when he received a report about a low-flying drone. However, he did not confirm if it was really a drone before launching missiles from an anti-aircraft system.
Unfortunately, one of the missiles hit and destroyed a Russian helicopter. Everyone on board died in the crash. The officer admitted his mistake in May 2024.
The court sentenced Pashkov to three years in prison. However, this sentence was later reduced by two months. In addition to serving time, the officer is also banned from holding important government positions for one year.
