**13 Killed in Russian Shelling of Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia**
At least 13 people have died and 32 others were injured when Russia shelled the city of Zaporizhzhia in southern Ukraine. The attack happened on Wednesday at around 4 pm local time.
Local officials said that two guided aerial bombs hit residential buildings, causing widespread destruction. Footage showed a high-rise building on fire, as well as several vehicles burning. Emergency responders were seen treating casualties on the roadside.
**Ukrainian President Calls for Action**
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attack and called on his country’s allies to put pressure on Russia. “This is a terror act,” he said, adding that there was nothing more cruel than bombing a city where civilians live.
Zelensky also appealed for more support from Ukraine’s allies, saying that only through strength can such a war be ended with lasting peace.
**Day of Mourning Declared**
A day of mourning will be declared across the Zaporizhzhia region on Thursday to honor the victims of the attack. The city is close to the front line in the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
The Russian military has not commented on the attack, which happened just over two years after President Vladimir Putin launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
