Oleh Kiper, the governor of Odesa, reported that Russia had attacked the port infrastructure in southern Odesa with a ballistic rocket on October 14. One person was killed and eight others were injured.
Kiper said that the attack damaged two civilian ships — NS Moon, flying the flag of Belize, and the Palau-flagged Optima. The Russians attacked the latter vessel last week, on October 7.
In recent days, Russia has intensified its attacks on port infrastructure in Odesa Oblast and damaged several civilian ships.
Oleksii Kulba, Minister for the Development of Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure, said that the purpose of these attacks was to reduce our export capacity.
“This is a deliberate attempt to create a food shortage in those parts of world that are directly reliant on Ukrainian grain supplies.”
Kuleba reports that a grain warehouse, cargo cranes and machinery were also damaged by the missile attack in Odesa. The victims were Ukrainian port workers.
Kuleba, a Russian official, said that in the last three months, Russia had carried out 60 of these attacks, destroying and damaging nearly 300 port infrastructures and 22 civilian vessels.
As a result, over 80 civilians have been killed or injured.
