The situation at the Pokrovsk Front remains complex. In an interview with Ukrainian Radio, Major Vitaly Milovidov, an officer from the 15th National Guard Operational Brigade said that at the end of October the Russian occupiers launched an assault involving significant numbers of troops and equipment towards Selidove where fighting continues.
Pokrovsk is a vital logistics hub for Ukraine. It is located at the intersections of important road and rail supply lines. It is therefore essential for the movement and supply of troops, supplies, and ammunition along the eastern front. Control of Pokrovsk could severely disrupt Ukrainian supply routes, complicating their capability to defend other territory in Donetsk Oblast. This could allow Russian forces to advance further into Ukraine.
Milovidov said that the attacks of Moscow troops near Pokrovsk do not stop at night.
“The enemy has concentrated their main forces and is launching their primary attack towards Vyshneve. The enemy is not decreasing the number of groups; it has prepared large reserves and is engaging with them simultaneously from multiple directions, preemptively setting up landing zones for both south and north advances. The Russian military also deploys a large number of assault groups which are constantly trying to advance, both day and night,” said the military officer.
According to him, heavy artillery of different calibers is also used to support this movement. The Russian army also actively uses electronic warfare tools to impede Ukrainian reconnaissance operations on radio horizons.
“It’s made it much harder to penetrate deeply. The enemy is also trying to use armored vehicles. Seven attempts to attack our unit and adjacent units that were carrying out combat in this direction have been made over the past 24 hours. They were successfully repulsed. The invaders are using FPV drones to attack our positions and supply routes. They are also trying to use infantry.
He said that the invaders were deploying large numbers of troops on the Pokrovsk Front. They had tried different movement tactics and conducted assault actions with armored columns and mechanized groups. “Mass infantry assaults are being used very frequently.”
