The Ukrainian military claims that the aim is to expand fire control, disrupt Ukrainian logistics and avoid direct urban combat.
The Russian forces have intensified their offensive near Selydove, Donetsk Oblast. They are focusing on the capture of Vyshneve, which is located on its western edge.
Over the past year, Russia has been concentrating on seizing Ukraine’s controlled areas in Donetsk Oblast. Major attacks have occurred near Pokrovsk and Selydove as well as other towns. Russia uses frontal assault tactics to incur heavy losses, but continues to make progress.
According to Ruslan Muszychuk, a spokesperson for Ukraine’s National Guard, the Russians have deployed waves of infantry and armored vehicle in an effort to expand their fire-control over the approaches to the City and disrupt Ukrainian logistics operations, Liga reports.
