Water Levels Rise in Ukraine Due to Damaged Reservoir
The water levels in several settlements along the Vovcha River have increased by 1.2 meters after a dam was damaged on November 11.
Ukrainian officials reported that Russian forces had targeted the Kurakhivske Reservoir, located in Donetsk Oblast. The reservoir is used to cool down a nearby power plant and its destruction has affected water levels in nearby villages.
The Kurakhivske Reservoir is situated near the village of Stari Terny. Ukrainian officials have been focusing their efforts on the Kurakhove area of Donetsk for months, where Russian forces have been using aggressive tactics.
According to reports, the head of the Kurakhove City military administration, Roman Padun, has confirmed that water is flowing at the Ternivska Dam. However, an inspection of the damage was impossible due to constant shelling from Russian forces.
