**Russia Accused of War Crime: Four Ukrainian POWs Executed**
Ukraine’s Prosecutor General reported that Russian forces have committed another summary execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war. This happened on November 22, near Petrivka village in Donetsk Oblast.
The four Ukrainian servicemembers were forced to surrender after a hostile attack by Russian forces. Immediately afterwards, the Russians opened fire with automatic weapons and killed all four prisoners.
**Systemic Violations of International Law**
This execution is reported as part of a larger pattern of systemic violations of international law by Russia. Despite overwhelming evidence, the Kremlin denies these war crimes. These crimes occur frequently across all front sectors.
**Investigations Launched**
As of November 22, Ukraine has launched 53 criminal proceedings to investigate the execution of 177 Ukrainian defenders. This is just one part of nearly 170,000 investigations into war crimes and national security violations since Russia’s full-scale invasion began in February 2022.
**Pre-trial Investigation Underway**
Ukrainian law enforcement has initiated a pre-trial investigation under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code. This addresses violations of laws and customs of war combined with intentional murder.
