Russian forces are trying to capture the city of Pokrovsk in eastern Ukraine. This city is important for both sides because it connects key roads and railways.
Ukrainian forces are fighting hard to stop Russian troops from taking Pokrovsk. They know that if Russians get this city, they can move easily into other areas. Ukrainian soldiers are trying to prevent this by defending the city fiercely.
Russians are attacking from two directions: Pishchane and Mykolaivka. But every day, Ukrainian defenders kill 300-400 Russian soldiers in these battles. Even though many Russians die, their commanders keep sending more troops from nearby occupied territories.
The Russians have a lot of resources to fight with. They use special drones that can’t be easily destroyed by Ukrainian electronic warfare. These drones help the Russians plan and prepare for attacks.
Commander Vitalii Lytvyn says that Russian forces are trying to capture Pokrovsk because it’s a key location on their way to other important cities, like Kostiantynivka. He also notes that Russians are shelling the city heavily, destroying many buildings and infrastructure.
In fact, 75% of residential buildings in Pokrovsk have been destroyed, along with 90% of its critical infrastructure. Lytvyn calls this “terrorism” by Russian forces.
Ukrainian defenders have pushed back against Russian attacks on several occasions, including a recent day when they repelled 38 Russian attacks near the city.
