Russia’s current equipment losses are the highest since 2022

, citing Oryx data, reports that Russia lost nearly 700 vehicles, tanks, and aircraft during its pre-winter offensive.
Newsweek reports that analysis of the data, which tracks visually verified Ukrainian and Russian losses, shows that in Ukraine experienced rate of destroyed or taken assets in over two year’ time in October 2024.
The Oryx Blog has been tracking Russian equipment losses since the all-out began on 24 February, 2022. It notes that strict proof standards means actual losses are “significantly greater.” Russia’s losses can be attributed Moscow’s increased efforts to capture territories before the mudseason, regardless of the cost.
