A Ukrainian operation has reportedly eliminated a senior developer. Mikhail Shatsky, the deputy chief designer and head of software at Moscow’ Mars design bureau, was shot a forest park near Kotelniki, Moscow Oblast.

According to reports, Shatsky worked on upgrading ‘s cruise missiles and developing new drones with . His colleagues considered him the main person responsible for implementing AI in Russian aircraft and spacecraft.

Ukraine has been actively targeting Russian officers involved in crimes and collaborators in occupied areas since Russia’s full-scale invasion. This operation is part of a larger effort to disrupt Russia’s military-industrial complex.

Shatsky was allegedly working on modernizing Russia’s Kh-59 cruise missiles to the Kh-69 standard, which was first used to strike Ukrainian cities in October 2024.

The Ukrainian Ministry’s Main Directorate of Intelligence (HUR) did not confirm or deny involvement in the operation.
