Telegram reported that at least six people died and 11 were injured in a Russian rocket strike on the southern Odesa Oblast of Ukraine on October 9. Regional governor Oleh Kiper confirmed this. According to Oleksii Kuleba, minister for development of communities and territories, and infrastructure, Russian forces targeted the civilian container ship Shui Spirit flying the Panamanian flag. “Today, Ukraine is the guarantor for food security. Kuleba said that it is therefore important to stop this practice of terror. Kiper, the Governor of Odesa Oblast, said that all victims were Ukrainian citizens. At least seven people in serious condition are receiving treatment at local hospitals. According to Ukrainian authorities, the incident on Oct. 9 is the third attack within four days. Kiper accused Russia for trying to disrupt Ukraine’s maritime grain corridor, which Kyiv set up in August 2023 following Moscow‘s withdrawal from the Black Sea deal in July. “I urge all countries and organizations to condemn Russian aggression and take action to stop it, ensure freedom of movement and global food safety,” Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sbiha wrote in a letter to X.
