The Netherlands has delivered its first F-16 fighter jets, strengthening Ukraine’s air defense after Russia launched more than 5,000 attacks over the weekend.
The approximate loss of military equipment and weapons of the Russian Armed Forces since the beginning of the invasion until the present date is 6 OCT 2024.
Military Personnel
Azov Brigade reports that Russian soldiers executed 3 Ukrainians who surrendered. The incident took place near New York, a town in Donetsk Oblast that was captured by Russians last August.
Russian bombs hit Konstiantynivka, Donetsk Oblast. One person was killed and two others injured. As Russian forces intensify the Donbas offensive, Konstiantynivka is under increasing pressure.
Son-in law of Iryna, a Russian critic and Ukrainian language advocate who was killed in combat. Ukrainian soldier Vasyl Osoba was killed fighting Russians in Donetsk Oblast.
Last week, Russia bombarded Ukraine with 800 guided missiles, 400 drones and 20 guided bombs. The attack peaked at the weekend, with more than 5, 000 attacks.
In a weekend assault, Russia launches more that 5,000 attacks against Ukraine. Odesa and Kyiv are among the targets.
Ukrainian intelligence sources confirm that North Korean officers were killed in a missile strike in Donetsk Oblast. The last known recent missile attack in the region targeted command posts/railway infrastructure at occupied Avdiivka.
A drone attack ignites a fire at a Moscow military school. A drone attack on the Higher Combined Arms Command School in Moscow is alleged to have caused a fire that broke out in southeastern Moscow.
NYT: Ukraine gives up space in exchange for Russian losses. Ukraine’s military plan in Donbas involves a controlled, slow retreat from key towns in order to cause maximum casualties on Russian troops while preserving its own forces. This strategy aims to exhaust Russia’s resource in a long war of attrition.
Ukraine anticipates a Russian breakthrough near Orikhiv in Zaporizhzhia and Robotyne. The Ukrainian military has announced that Russian troops are preparing for a new offensive in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. They will focus on Ukraine’s bridgehead between Orikhiv & Robotyne.
Over 90 aerial weapons were launched by Russia at Ukraine. Two missiles and 56 drones were downed. At least four drones and missiles may have reached their target, causing injuries and damage in Odesa.
Intelligence and technology
Ukraine receives first batch of Dutch F-16s. More will follow in the coming months. The Netherlands has delivered the first F-16 fighters in Ukraine, Dutch Defense minister Brekelmans said during a surprise trip to Kharkiv.

New York City will host the Ukrainian Cultural Festival in October. The festival will include performances by the National Ballet of Ukraine and contemporary Ukrainian cinema as well as literary readings from prominent Ukrainian authors.
Zelenskyy will pitch “Victory Plan”, again, at the Ramstein meeting. WP reports that President Zelenskyy’s recent US visit to present Ukraine’s “victory plans” failed to produce concrete results and left Ukraine in a unsure position about future support.
Political and legal developments
ISW: Kremlin to fund cryptomobilization efforts until 2027. Russia plans to spend almost $1 billion on military contract payments between 2025 and 2027. This indicates a continued reliance upon crypto-mobilization to provide war manpower in Ukraine.
Ukrainian diplomat: Kerch Bridge should cease to exist in order to ensure maritime freedom. Anton Korynevych, a Ukrainian, makes arguments in favor of the demolition of Kerch Bridge. He cites concerns about freedom of navigation, environmental impact, and cultural heritage.
New developments
Russian propaganda falsely alleges Ukrainian involvement in terrorist-training in Syria. Russian disinformation campaigns continue. Now spreading false allegations that Ukrainian instructors train terrorists in Syria.
