Salesforce has been actively acquiring companies lately. After recently purchasing data management firm Own, they have now announced their plans to buy Zoomin, an enterprise knowledge platform. This platform brings together a company’s documentation, such as user guides and tutorials, into one central portal. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed, but it is expected to be finalized in the fourth quarter of Salesforce’s fiscal year 2025 (January 31), pending customary closing conditions.
Zoomin was founded in 2019 by Gal Oron, Hannan Saltzman, and Joe Gelb. It uses AI and big data to help companies create self-service documentation search and support experiences. Their clients include tech companies like McAfee and Dell, as well as fast-food chains like Burger King, Tim Hortons, and Popeyes. Zoomin has received $73 million in funding from investors such as General Atlantic, Bessemer Ventures Partners, Viola Growth, and Salesforce Ventures.
According to Rahul Auradkar, EVP of unified data sources at Salesforce, Zoomin will enhance Salesforce’s Data Cloud platform by enabling use cases like automating customer service interactions using a company’s knowledge base. He also stated that Zoomin’s technology and expertise will accelerate innovation within Data Cloud and provide more value to customers. This acquisition follows Salesforce’s commitment to invest $500 million in AI startups through Salesforce Ventures.
