Georgia’s President Speaks Out Against Elections Claims.
President Salome Zourabishvili has written on social media that it is time for her country‘s partners to demand new elections. She believes this is necessary because the ruling party, Georgian Dream, recently announced plans to give awards to high-ranking officials who have just been sanctioned.
The President was reacting to a statement made by Georgian Dream and a local TV channel called Imedi. They said that the OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe) recognizes the legitimacy of Georgia’s elections. However, President Zourabishvili says this is not true and that making false claims about foreign statements has become common practice.
In her post on social media platform X, she compared this behavior to old Soviet habits. She believes it is time for Georgia’s partners to speak out against these claims and demand new elections.
