**Georgian President Meets with Future US Ministers**
The fifth President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, recently met with future US ministers. She used the opportunity to emphasize the importance of Georgia’s relationship with America.
President Zurabishvili attended several pre-inaugural receptions in Washington before the new government took office. These were her first meetings with some of the soon-to-be confirmed cabinet members.
During these initial contacts, President Zurabishvili conveyed a clear message to the future US ministers. She stressed that Georgia is at a critical point and needs America’s attention more than ever. The country faces a choice: either be pulled back into Russia’s orbit or continue on its path towards independence.
President Zurabishvili highlighted how America has played a significant role in building and strengthening Georgia‘s institutions, army, and independence. She believes that the Georgian people want this same support today, just as they have always wanted it.
The President sees this issue not only as a political matter but also an existential question. She emphasized that Georgia’s future is at stake, with its sovereignty and Euro-Atlantic aspirations hanging in the balance.
President Zurabishvili believes that it is essential for the incoming US administration to understand these concerns and priorities.
