Protests Turned into Sieges in Georgia
The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, has made a strong statement on social media. She compared the situation in her country to Russia.
“Besides Russia,” she asked, “in which country do they turn mass protests into sieges?”
Her goal is clear: not to destroy the country, but to break it apart. The President described how police forces chased protesters who had escaped and found them kilometers away from the city center.
The President also accused the ruling party of increasing repression. She mentioned that armed men were seen helping the police. This suggests a level of violence and control that is not acceptable in any country.
