**Georgia Supports Lithuania on Independence Day**
January 13, 1991, was a significant day for Lithuania. The country’s people bravely defended their independence against Soviet forces.
On this special day, Georgia’s President Salome Zurabichvili showed her support for Lithuania on social media platform X. She wrote: “Georgia stands with Lithuania and its people.”
Lithuania also appreciates Georgia’s help as it works towards becoming a part of Europe. The country commemorates Defenders of Freedom Day on January 13.
On January 11-13, 1991, Soviet troops violently stopped a peaceful protest in Vilnius, the capital city of Lithuania. Unfortunately, this led to the deaths of 14 innocent protesters.
