**President of Georgia Slams Awarding Order of Merit to Repression Officials**
The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, has spoken out against the government’s plan to award the “Order of Merit” to high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In a social media post, she called it a “logical consequence” of the country’s current values being turned upside down.
**A History of Lies**
Zurabishvili noted that lying by the state was a common practice in the Soviet Union. She said that people were forced to lie and confess to crimes they didn’t commit. Now, she claims that similar tactics are being used in Georgia.
**Awarding Officials with Questionable Past**
The Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze, announced yesterday that 11 high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs will be nominated for the Order of Merit. These officials include the Minister and his deputies, who have been sanctioned by the US and EU countries.
**A Concerning Trend**
Zurabishvili’s post highlights a worrying trend in Georgia. The country is moving away from truth and towards a distorted reality where lies are used to manipulate public opinion and deceive foreign partners.
