Georgia’s President Says Russia is Testing its Hybrid Strategy in the Country.
President Salome Zurabishvili of Georgia says that Russia has turned her country into a testing ground for its hybrid strategy. This means that Russia is using a combination of different tactics, such as propaganda and cyber attacks, to try to influence the situation in Georgia.
According to President Zurabishvili, this strategy is not just being used against Georgia. She says that it’s also being used in Romania and Moldova. The president warned that if these countries don‘t take action now, Russia may use its hybrid strategy elsewhere in the future.
President Zurabishvili was commenting on the situation in Ukraine. She said that holding elections in Ukraine right now would be a mistake. Russia, she says, is trying to subjugate Ukraine and undermine its democracy.
The president also emphasized that Russia’s hybrid strategy poses a threat not just to Georgia, but to other countries in the region as well. She noted that Germany has also recognized this threat and is working with others to counter it.
In addition to commenting on the situation in Ukraine, President Zurabishvili spoke about the ongoing protests in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. She said that these protests are a sign that the people want new elections to be held. The president urged those supporting the protests to continue demanding new elections and to stand up for what is right.
