**Georgia‘s President Speaks Out Against Absurd Arrests**
Georgia’s fifth president, Salome Zurabishvili, is speaking out against the recent wave of arrests in her country. She made her statement on social media platform X.
Zurabishvili expressed her concern about the arrest of students during a protest yesterday. “Terror in Georgia, new wave of arrests reaching new heights in absurdity,” she wrote. “Student girls detained for bringing chairs to the protests, while another student is arrested just for applauding!”
**Three People Detained at Parliament**
Yesterday, law enforcement officers detained three people in front of the Parliament. Two were released after giving a written statement, but one person remains in custody.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, all three individuals were held under Article 173, which refers to disobeying a police officer’s order. The reason for their detention was that they tried to place small chairs on the steps in front of the Parliament, and law enforcement stopped them. One person was also arrested for clapping.
