New Wave of Repression Hits Georgia
Georgia is facing a new wave of repression, arrests, and intimidation. The goal of this crackdown is to stop the ongoing protest, but it will not succeed.
According to Salome Zurabishvili, the President of Georgia, the country has entered a new stage of the Russian regime. This regime uses all the methods characteristic of Putin‘s rule. One example of this is the violent treatment of a citizen in Abu Dhabi by government officials. This kind of behavior is not acceptable in a normal country and is typical only of authoritarian regimes.
Zurabishvili spoke out against the violence, saying it was unacceptable to use force against citizens or politicians. She also stated that international solidarity would be shown on this matter because such actions cannot be allowed.
A large portion of society in Georgia is currently on strike. This strike should serve as a symbol that society will not be intimidated and will fight for its rights. The country wants to remain free and independent, and it will continue to fight peacefully against the Russian regime’s attempts to take over.
