Georgia’s fifth president, Salome Zurabishvili, has spoken out about the current situation in her country. In a post on social media platform X, she describes what is happening as “terror”.
**Foreign Funding for NGOs Banned**
President Zurabishvili says that foreign funding for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) or projects is now forbidden. This means that any organization receiving money from outside Georgia will no longer be able to operate.
**Local Solidarity Funds Frozen**
She also mentions that local solidarity funds have been arbitrarily frozen. These funds were set up to help people in need, but they are now being held back by the government.
**Businessmen Arrested and Politicians Threatened**
The president says that businessmen who have spoken out against the government have been arrested. She also claims that politicians who disagree with the current regime are being threatened.
**Foreign Officials Not Allowed in Georgia**
President Zurabishvili’s post is quite alarming, as she mentions that even foreign officials are not allowed to enter the country. This makes it difficult for anyone outside of Georgia to understand what is really happening there.
