US Suspends Partnership with Georgia
The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, has spoken out about the US decision to suspend their strategic partnership. He said this is a temporary event that will not have long-term effects.
According to the Prime Minister, the current administration in the US is trying to make a big impact on the new government before they take over. This includes actions taken against Ukraine and now Georgia. He thinks these decisions are just attempts to leave a lasting legacy for the outgoing administration.
Kobakhidze compared this situation to when Salome Zurabishvili was elected as President of Georgia. At that time, there were concerns about her presidency, but things turned out well in the end. The Prime Minister believes that the US decision will not be very important and that they will talk with the new administration and resolve any issues.
A spokesman for the US State Department had earlier announced on social media platform X that the US has decided to suspend its strategic partnership with Georgia. A detailed statement was also released by the US State Department regarding this decision.
