Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili to Attend Trump‘s Inauguration
Georgia‘s president, Salome Zurabishvili, will attend the inauguration of Donald Trump as US President. She was invited by Congressman Joe Wilson, who chairs a commission in Washington.
President Zurabishvili said she would be in the US for meetings with important leaders. “I have a role and I am fulfilling it completely,” she said. She stressed that her trip is not about paying money to attend the inauguration, but rather about building relationships with partners.
The Georgian president also commented on statements made by the country’s ruling party, Georgian Dream. The party had criticized French President Emmanuel Macron and other Western leaders. Zurabishvili called these comments “rude and offensive.”
She said that despite such comments, Georgia still has key supporters among Western countries. These countries have promised to help Georgia after new elections are held and the country returns to a democratic system.
